The Ethics and Public Policy Center takes great pleasure in announcing that Peter Wehner, who is completing his White House service as Deputy Assistant to the President and as Director of the Office of Strategic Initiatives, will join EPPC next month as a Senior Fellow.
The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, an independent, bipartisan federal agency advising the Administration and Congress, has elected Michael Cromartie as chair to succeed Felice D. Gaer, who has served in this capacity since 2006. Preeta D. Bansal and Richard D. Land were elected Vice Chairs. The officers will serve for one year effective July 1.

On May 15, 2007, President George W. Bush reappointed EPPC Vice President Michael Cromartie to serve another two-year term on the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. Cromartie, currently Vice Chair of the Commission, served as Chair of the Commission in 2006.
Dr. Michael Casey of Sydney, Australia, has joined EPPC as a Visiting Fellow in order to undertake research into the relationship between religion and ideology in modern democratic politics. “We’re delighted to have Michael with us in D.C. while he continues his research,” said EPPC President Ed Whelan.
The Ethics and Public Policy Center is pleased to announce that political expert Jeffrey Bell has joined EPPC as a Visiting Fellow. Mr. Bell and EPPC board member Robert P. George are co-authoring a book on political conservatism.
The Ethics and Public Policy Center is delighted to announce that Carter Snead, an internationally recognized expert in the field of law and bioethics, has affiliated with EPPC as a Fellow. His specific areas of expertise include stem-cell research, human cloning, assisted reproduction, neuroscience, abortion, end-of-life matters, and research involving human subjects.
The Ethics and Public Policy Center is pleased to announce that Yuval Levin, who has just completed his service as Associate Director of the Domestic Policy Council at the White House, has joined EPPC as a Fellow. His areas of specialty include reform of federal domestic-policy programs, political philosophy, science and technology, and bioethics. Mr. Levin will also resume his position as Senior Editor of The New Atlantis, EPPC’s quarterly journal of technology and society.

Capretta, who served as the Bush Administration’s top budget official for health care, Social Security and pensions, education, and labor policy, has joined EPPC as a Fellow in its Economics and Ethics program and as a FirstFocus Fellow.

Mr. Kurtz is a key contributor to American public debates on a wide range of issues, from marriage and family, to higher education reform, to the place of religion in public life, to the challenges of democratization abroad.
The Ethics and Public Policy Center is delighted to announce that Herbert Schlossberg, a leading scholar on Christianity and society, has joined EPPC. Mr. Schlossberg is the author of several books, including, most recently, The Silent Revolution and the Making of Victorian England, which studies the effect on English society of the religious revival of the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
