There are striking parallels between the Russian disinformation campaign that continues to foul the global communications space in the third month of the war on Ukraine and the hysterical screeds of pro-abortion American politicians after a draft Supreme Court decision in the Dobbs case leaked.

The argument that pro-life laws “force women to give birth” betrays the mistaken premise undergirding the pro-abortion case.

It would be ironic if whoever leaked the draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization did it in a desperate effort to prod the Supreme Court to uphold Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Because this breach is one of the starkest examples yet of why the question of abortion law and policy must be restored to our political branches.
