December 8, 2010 | American Enterprise Institute
On December 8, 2010 EPPC Fellow James C. Capretta participated in a public forum in Washington, D.C. sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute entitled “Beyond ‘Repeal and Replace’: Ideas for Real Health Reform.” Mr. Capretta participated in a panel and presented the findings from a new paper (available here), co-authored with AEI’s Tom Miller, on “The Defined Contribution Route to Health Care Choice and Competition.” Mr. Capretta’s remarks focused on the importance of converting today’s federal support for health insurance coverage — in the form of Medicare, Medicaid, and the tax preference for employer-paid health premiums — into fixed levels of support, thus converting millions of passive insurance enrolleesinto cost-conscious consumers. The full video for the event can be found here.
