(Washington): The Ethics and Public Policy Center applauds the introduction of new legislation championing women’s health. U.S. Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), James Lankford (R-OK), U.S. Representatives Diana Harshbarger (TN-01), and Riley Moore (WV-02) introduced the Reproductive Empowerment and Support through Optimal Restoration (RESTORE) Act in their respective chambers.
The act, which includes model language from the Ethics and Public Policy Center, bolsters women’s health by expanding and promoting research, education, and data collection on the underlying causes of infertility, such as reproductive health conditions.
The legislation promotes access to Restorative Reproductive Medicine, an approach to health care that targets, through root cause treatment, underlying reproductive health dysfunction like endometriosis, PCOS, and male factor infertility.
“At least one in five couples spend years battling reproductive health conditions and suffering from infertility with no answers, hope, or treatment. With infertility rates rising in the United States, the RESTORE Act responds to a national crisis by filling a longstanding gap in reproductive medicine. These lawmakers are courageously championing couples who deeply desire biological children, offering them holistic and evidence-based care.” – Natalie Dodson, Policy Analyst and editor, Treating Infertility: The New Frontier of Reproductive Medicine
