His book Therapized: How Psychology Hurts the People It’s Meant to Help is forthcoming from Simon & Schuster (U.S.) and Little Brown (U.K.). His previous books, Vexed: Ethics Beyond Political Tribes (Bloomsbury Continuum, 2020) and Ethics at the Beginning of Life (Oxford University Press, 2013) have been widely reviewed.
He holds undergraduate and doctoral degrees from Oxford University, was a Henry Fellow at Yale University, and from 2013 to 2017 taught at the University of Virginia as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture.
He has written on a range of ethical, political, literary subjects for a variety of publications on both sides of the Atlantic: The Times, The Guardian, The New Statesman, The Times Literary Supplement, The Spectator, The Atlantic, The Daily Telegraph, Plough Quarterly, UnHerd, Standpoint, The American Conservative, First Things, Raritan, The New Atlantis, and The Hedgehog Review.
He currently lives in London.
