Andrew T. Walker, Ph.D., is a Fellow in the Evangelicals and Civic Life Program at The Ethics and Public Policy Center. He is also the Dean of the School of Theology and Professor of Christian Ethics and Public Theology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and the founding Managing Editor of WORLD Opinions. He co-hosts The Bully Pulpit, a weekly podcast exploring faith, culture, and politics from a conservative Christian perspective.

Walker’s research and writing focus on Christian ethics, public theology, and the common good, with particular interests in natural law theory, bioethics, human dignity, church-state relations, and social conservatism. His commentary has appeared in or been cited by The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, POLITICO, The Atlantic, and The Los Angeles Times, among others. He contributes regularly to National Review, First Things, WORLD Opinions, The Gospel Coalition, and Public Discourse.
He is the author of several books, including the award-winning God and the Transgender Debate (2nd ed.), Faithful Reason: Natural Law Ethics for God’s Glory and Our Good, The Nations Belong to God, and the award-winning Liberty for All: Defending Everyone’s Religious Freedom in a Secular Age. He co-authored What Do I Say When…? A Parent’s Guide to Navigating Cultural Chaos (Crossway, 2024) with his wife, Christian, and has edited three academic volumes, including Social Conservatism for the Common Good and Five Views on the Natural Law (co-edited with Ryan T. Anderson). His forthcoming book, Prodigal Culture: A People in Ruins and the Way Back Home (Crossway, November 2026), is his next book.
Walker holds a B.A. from Southwest Baptist University and an M.Div., Th.M., and Ph.D. in Christian Ethics from Southern Seminary. He has completed additional studies at the Witherspoon Institute and the James Madison Program at Princeton, and is pursuing graduate work in bioethics at Harvard University. In 2023, he received the Heritage Foundation’s inaugural Freedom and Opportunity academic award.
He serves on the preaching team at Highview Baptist Church and leads a weekly community group. He lives in Louisville with his wife and three daughters.
