George Weigel Named Distinguished Senior Fellow

Published November 1, 2007

On the unanimous recommendation of EPPC’s board of directors, EPPC is pleased to name George Weigel its first Distinguished Senior Fellow.  “George’s new title is in recognition of his remarkable contributions to EPPC over the past two decades,” said William R. Burleigh, chairman of EPPC’s board.

Mr. Weigel served as EPPC’s president from 1989 to 1996 and has been a senior fellow at EPPC since then.  He is the author or editor of 17 books, including Witness to Hope, the international bestselling biography of Pope John Paul II. His next book, Faith, Reason, and the War Against Jihadism, will be published in December 2007.

Mr. Weigel’s syndicated weekly Catholic press column remains the most widely circulated in the United States, reaching more than sixty newspapers with a combined readership of some two million.  He directs EPPC’s Catholic Studies program, which works to shape the engagement of the Catholic Church in the United States and in Europe with the great international and domestic issues of our time.
