Scholars and staff of the Ethics and Public Policy Center mourn the loss of EPPC Fellow Ian Lindquist, who died on May 5 of leukemia at age 35.
Mr. Lindquist joined EPPC in 2017, and his work focused on liberal and classical education, civil society and civic education, and the traditional and communal grounds of liberty in modern and contemporary society and culture. He was also senior advisor to the Public Interest Fellowship, which he previously served as executive director.
“Ian Lindquist was a deep thinker, humble leader, and devoted family man,” said EPPC President Ryan T. Anderson. “He leaves behind an inspiring legacy of sacrificial love and faithful devotion to God, his wife, and his children. All of us at EPPC mourn his passing.”
“Ian Lindquist was an outstanding scholar and an even better man. To know him was not just to like him but to admire him deeply. In bearing his suffering with extraordinary grace, Ian provided a powerful testament to his deep faith. May he rest in peace, and may his wonderful wife Kelly and their seven young children be showered with God’s blessings,” said EPPC Distinguished Senior Fellow Ed Whelan.
In a February 2022 column, EPPC Distinguished Senior Fellow George Weigel wrote about the Lindquist family and their identification with the martyred Ulma family, calling it “one of the most compelling examples I’ve ever encountered of that familiar (if often unpondered) phrase from the Creed, the ‘communion of saints.’”
