AUDIO: Ed Whelan Discusses Kavanaugh Nomination on Fox News Radio’s Benson & Harf

Fox News Radio’s Benson & Harf

On August 14, 2018, EPPC President Ed Whelan appeared on Fox News Radio’s Benson & Harf to discuss the latest on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Below is a partial transcript of the interview:

On the debate over documents: The fact is they have a tremendous amount of information more than on plenty of other nominees who have gone before them.  I think the big picture here as both the New York Times and the Washington Post have reported over the weekend is that Democrats are realizing that their campaign to stop the Kavanaugh nomination is failing and fizzling and what they’re trying to do is simply obstruct by delay. (1:13)

On it seeming that we are at an impasse: There is no impasse. The Republicans are going forward exactly as they should. Sure there may be a handful of Democrats who haven’t yet decided which way the political winds are blowing, but no one is even examining his record his 300 opinions. For all the people talking about trying to get access to what happened when he was staff secretary I don’t see much. I don’t think there is remotely a good faith argument for these demands. (4:10)

On ProPublica’s request for photos of Kavanaugh at Nationals games:  They completely misstate the debt record. They completely misstate the facts involving the purchase of season tickets with friends. It’s a ludicrous enterprise, but they want to make his purchase of Nats season tickets the centerpiece of the hearing please go ahead. It’s the stupidest controversy I’ve ever seen on a Supreme Court nomination. (9:54)
