October 3, 2006

The Ethics and Public Policy Center is pleased to announce that Yuval Levin, who has just completed his service as Associate Director of the Domestic Policy Council at the White House, has joined EPPC as a Fellow.  His areas of specialty include reform of federal domestic-policy programs, political philosophy, science and technology, and bioethics.  Mr. Levin will also resume his position as Senior Editor of The New Atlantis, EPPC’s quarterly journal of technology and society.

“I am delighted that Yuval Levin has come on board,” said EPPC President Ed Whelan.  “He will make us ever more effective at translating EPPC’s vision into concrete and creative policy proposals.”

Added EPPC board member Robert P. George, who has worked closely with Mr. Levin (including during Mr. Levin’s previous service as Executive Director of the President’s Council on Bioethics):  “Yuval Levin is an extraordinarily gifted scholar.  He brings a remarkable depth of understanding both of American political philosophy and of an array of critical domestic-policy issues.  His addition to the EPPC team makes an already exceptional group of scholars and policy analysts even more outstanding.”

In addition to numerous essays and articles, Mr. Levin is the author of Tyranny of Reason: The Origins and Consequences of the Social Scientific Outlook (Rowman & Littlefield/UPA 2001). He is completing a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago.

Mr. Levin is the fifth outstanding scholar to join EPPC since March 2006.
